The Casas’ network: an innovative public diplomacy instrument
In this lecture Director General of Casa Asia José Pintor Aguilar will talk about public diplomacy and Asia from the perspectives of Spain.
The Lecture
Spain has created an innovative public diplomacy instrument for its global projection: The Casas’ network (Casa América, Casa Asia, Casa Árabe, Casa África, Casa Mediterráneo, and Centro Sefarad-Israel) which brings a multi-dimensional and multi-stakeholders’ networked approach to public diplomacy. In his talk director José Pintor Aguilar will draw upon Casa Asia’s experience as an example of Spain’s innovative public diplomacy approach. Over more than 20 years, it has consolidated as a platform to connect people and institutions from Asia and Spain, working with Asian diasporas in Spain for their role as bridges, contributing with government’s state, regional and cities’ Asia strategies and engaging in Europe-Asia public diplomacy networks through its implication in the Asia-Europe Foundation (ASEF). Through these activities, it aims at building long-term trust and at consolidating as a as an active partner in Asia-Europe relations.
